The story behind Seymour’s

Seymour Peterman

Seymour’s is the sister shop of Pete’s Bagels; inspired by the man who taught us that good food and a sense of humor can get you through just about anything.

Born in 1928 in Newark, New Jersey, Seymour liked his bagels scooped, his pickles on the side, and his rye bread piled high. He had four kids, eight grandkids, and more stories than we could count; each one ending with “and so on and so forth.”

He was content—at least, that’s what he wanted you to believe. Even on his worst day, if you asked how he was doing, he’d shrug and say, “It’s good.”

Seymour’s is our way of carrying that spirit forward: simple, comforting food, made with care and served with a wink.
